Established in 1965, the Indianapolis Racquet Club (IRC) Dean Road was Indiana's first and largest indoor tennis club. With the purchase of the East club in 1975, IRC increased the number of indoor courts to 24. IRC is the former home to several major tournaments including the U.S. National Clay Court Championships, the Virginia Slims of Indianapolis, the National Boy's 12 and Under, and the National Women's 65 and Over.

IRC welcomes all types of players including the club, tournament, and professional player. Extensive adult and junior programs are offered for all ages and skill levels, including a nationally recognized junior tournament players program. Our teaching professional staff is both dedicated and experienced, offering the best in quality instruction with proven results.

Both IRC facilities have a fully stocked pro shop, comprised of over 3,300 square feet of the ultimate selection in tennis equipment and attire. The IRC Pro Shops offer several unique services including a frequent stringer program, special ordering service, adult and school team discounts, demo racquet program, and competitive pricing policy. As well as tennis gear, the IRC Pro Shops offer expert stringing services 7 days a week. The IRC Pro Shops have been voted by the Tennis Industry Association as one of the top 10 pro shops in America and was recently named Best Pro Shop by Indianapolis Monthly.

As a member you can become a part of the history of the Indianapolis Racquet Club. Participate in all that the club has to offer including coached groups for the beginner to competitive tournament player, adult & junior programs, private lessons, cardio tennis, USTA-sanctioned tournaments, winter and summer league play, mixed doubles parties, junior pizza nights, and much, much more!

All annual memberships begin September 12, 2016 and end September 10, 2017 and include access at both club locations, IRC Dean Road & IRC East (excludes corporate membership), as well as a fitness membership. Memberships are non-refundable, and are not transferable. IRC memberships purchased on or after December 1, 2016 will be offered an adjusted membership price for the remainder of the season. Membership is required for all coached groups unless otherwise indicated.

Good sportsmanship should be observed at all times. Players should not enter a court until their reserved time begins and until the players on court have a chance to finish their point/game. On-court players should relinquish their court when their reserved time ends. Shirts are required on court and inside the club. Only "non-marking" tennis shoes are permitted on court. Profanity or inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated.

IRC members may reserve court time in advance by phone or in person.   Guests may not reserve courts but may walk-in and utlitize open courts when available (guest fees apply).  Courts are reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. When reserving a court, be prepared to give your name, phone number, and the number of players and guests, along with any ball machine requests. If you wish to cancel a reservation, a minimum 24-hour notice is required. "No-show" and late cancellations will be charged if the court cannot be re-sold.

Ball Machines
Ball machines are available for use on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is no extra charge for the use of a ball machine (if available), with the exception of East Club adult walk-ons (see "Walk-On players"). To ensure the safety of players, first time ball machine users must receive assistance from an IRC staff member. Ball machine requests must be made when making a court reservation.

Walk-on Players
Walk-on privileges are based on court availability and allow a player the use of a court at a nominal fee without an advanced reservation. Initial walk-on privileges are for a one hour period of use or less; continued use is based on court availability. Walk-on is available to juniors (members and guests) at both IRC Dean and IRC East Club. Walk-on is available to adults at IRC East only during specific times.

If a junior player is accompanied by an adult member, the junior will be charged a walk-on fee and the adult will be responsible for their portion of the hourly court rate. The same policy applies for guests with the addition of guest fees.  Mandatory check-in at the front desk and payment is required before going on court.

Any player who is not an IRC member is required to pay a guest fee (see "Court Fees") in addition to the cost of court activities. Guests are allowed three visits (which include private lessons and/or court rental) and one visit to a coached group as a guest before club membership is required. IRC asks that all guests using our facility check-in at the front desk prior to facility use.

Private lessons are a great way to work on specific strokes while receiving plenty of individual attention from the instructor. Lessons are available with any of our experienced teaching professionals and should be set up directly with the teaching pro. Players may request an individual lesson or may join several other players for a group lesson.
Guests may take up to three lessons before an IRC membership is required.

All private lesson cancellations must be done directly with the teaching pro at least 24 hours in advance. "No-shows" and late cancellations will be charged for court time and pros may also charge their lesson fee.

If you need assistance finding a teaching pro, please contact IRC's Tennis Director Ed Brune for placement, 317.849.2532, ext. 23.

IRC members may reserve a court on a permanent basis for the entire fall/winter season. Benefits of reserving seasonal court time include:

• Guaranteed court at the same time each week.
• Court cost discount of $1/court/hour.
• Include a teaching pro on court (optional).
• Seasonal courts which begin play after 1pm and end play by 4pm Monday-Thursday receive 35% off court time.

All seasonal court players must be IRC members. If a substitute is needed, guests are eligible to play but must check-in at the front desk and pay a guest fee. Guests may play up to three times before an IRC membership is required.
Seasonal court players must commit to the entire fall/winter season in order to be eligible for the court fee discount. If a player is injured, moving, or otherwise unable to play, it is the player's financial responsibility to find a replacement.

A $50 non-refundable deposit is required to hold a seasonal court. Seasonal courts will be billed one time at the start of the season. Any changes to player rosters must be made by the court captain. Changes to the court may result in a $20 fee billable to the player who initiated the changes. Seasonal court players are responsible for providing their own tennis balls, but have the option of purchasing balls at a discounted rate to be provided at the time of play.
All seasonal courts are subject to temporary change due to prior IRC tournament commitments.

IRC provides chil care services to parents for use while on-site. There is a fee of $3 per child, per hour. The nursery offers games, toys, books, videos, and art supplies. We ask that all nursery visitors abide by the following guidelines to keep all the children safe and heathy:
